For the past few weeks I have been working for an extremely talented designer, Ong-Oaj Pairam, who is Brighton based. This is the first year he showcased at London Fashion Week with his second collection.
The show on Tuesday couldn’t have gone smoother. Backstage was surprisingly calm and the fittings were quick as Ong had previously thought about which model he wanted to wear which look.
Ong’s inspiration began with the film E.T focusing on Drew Barrymore’s character Gertie but continued to develop throughout the season. The collection oozed beautiful detailing such as delicate 3D embroidery of flowers and insects which adorned some of the statement pieces. A variety of bold prints were used from English garden florals that transported the viewer to a summers eve to red and blue abstract stripes and clever cheques.
I absolutely love every item and truly wish I could open my wardrobe next summer and see these pieces. The collection was an extreme success and I am sure it is the first of many to be shown at London Fashion Week and I can only hope that I will be part of his team for many seasons to come.
